Press Release Halifax – Local business owner, TV producer, and musician John Wesley Chisholm wants to be the next Progressive Conservative MLA for Halifax Chebucto.
John Wesley Chisholm announced he is seeking the nomination for the Halifax Chebucto Progressive Conservatives. “I’ve been engaged in citizenship beyond the ballot box for many years,” says Chisholm, who recently graduated with a Masters degree jointly issued by the London School of Economics, HEC Paris, and Stern Business School in New York. “I love Nova Scotia, but I can imagine more and better for the province. I see the election cycle as an opportunity to talk about new ideas, global experience, and ways to improve Nova Scotia.” Chisholm says economic growth in the province has become disconnected from broad-based prosperity for regular households, especially the most vulnerable among us. As so much of our natural wealth flows out of the province and into the hands of a very few, the lack of available capital prevents most people from investing in the future of their families, businesses, and communities. “The problems of the day are fundamentally economic in nature. Economics is the story we tell ourselves about where our wealth comes from and where it goes,” he says. “I think people want to get away from politics and focus on prosperity. That’s my interest.” Chisholm says it’s an interest shared by Jamie Baillie and others he’s met in the PC party. “They’re purposeful, prudent, prosperity minded, progressive conservatives out to improve Nova Scotia and I’d like to help.” Chisholm says though all the parties are attracting great people, he is drawn to the Progressive Conservative Party because they are in a unique position at the moment to openly rethink how the party, politics and government will work in Nova Scotia. The Progressive Conservative nomination contest in Halifax Chebucto officially opened on June 14th and will close on July 5.
